What, you ask, is all the hubbub about?
Well, it appears that FTL: Faster Than Light is getting a shipload of new content early next year!
FTL was easily among my top 3 games of 2012, and if you haven’t played it yet, this new expansion might be just the thing to get you interested. The game describes itself as aSpaceship Simulation Real-Time Roguelike-like. This basically translates into you you getting to control your own spaceship in a randomly generated sprint across the galaxy, where the terrible (or brilliant) choices that you make determine what gruesome fate almost inevitably will befall your brave crew.
FTL: Advanced Edition promises to add on many, many new features to spice up your randomised race across the stars, including new weapons, systems, enemies, events, and it looks like we’re even going to get a new sector.
Free & Expansion are two words that you don’t get to hear used together too often, yet here we are – you will be able to access the new content for the wonderfully low cost of absolutely nothing if you own the original game.
The good news didn’t stop there though. It was also announced that FTL will be making the jump to the iPad. There are few games that I’d like to play on the move as much as this, and it’s great that they’ve decided to expand into the tablet market as well.
Did I mention that we are also going to get new music from Ben Prunty? We are going to get new music from Ben Prunty.
You can get more information on the official FTL page.
